Skyline (2010): The first film introduces the mysterious and sudden alien invasion of Earth. The story centers on Jarrod and Elaine, a couple visiting Los Angeles for a friend’s birthday party. During their stay, strange blue lights descend from the sky, mesmerizing and abducting humans. The aliens, revealed to be biomechanical creatures, harvest human brains to power their technology. The group of friends struggles to survive as the aliens capture people en masse. The film ends on a cliffhanger with Jarrod, who is partially transformed after being abducted, retaining his humanity and trying to protect Elaine and their unborn child from the aliens.

Beyond Skyline (2017): Beyond Skyline shifts focus to a different protagonist, Mark Corley, a tough LAPD detective who is trying to rescue his estranged son, Trent, from an alien ship during the invasion. The film reveals more about the aliens and introduces the idea that humans can fight back from within. Mark and a group of survivors manage to hijack an alien ship, taking the fight to the alien’s stronghold. The climax of the film sees the group crash-land in Southeast Asia, where they join forces with a local resistance led by Sua, a human warrior, and his sister. The movie dives deeper into the aliens’ motives and the possibility of repurposing their technology to combat them. Trent, after being partially transformed like Jarrod, becomes a key figure in the resistance.

Skylines (2020): The final installment, Skylines, jumps several years into the future. The film follows Rose Corley, the now-adult daughter of Elaine and Jarrod, who possesses enhanced abilities due to her hybrid nature. By this time, humanity has repelled the initial invasion, and many aliens (called “Pilots”) are living peacefully on Earth, their memories and aggression suppressed. However, a deadly virus threatens to turn the Pilots back into their hostile state. Rose, now a hardened leader, must lead a team on a mission to the aliens’ homeworld to find a cure and prevent the annihilation of both species. The film blends action with themes of redemption and sacrifice, culminating in an epic battle for survival that ties together the threads from the previous two movies.
